Today we’re getting serious, folks. The #MeToo campaign is still in full swing, now joined by the TIMESUP campaign started by women in Hollywood. A lot has been written on the topic and I hope this is a subject that will continue to generate enlightening discussions. Today, I wanted to add my two cents as well.

Thoughts on Disney Princess discourse
It’s 
not exactly new or fresh to say that many Disney movies are not a paragon of feminism or progressive thought. Yet, every time a new movie surfaces, the discussion is opened again; people need to point out what was wrong with the older movies, and some avid fans will try to defend them. I feel like these two parties don’t even disagree that much, they just value other aspects of the movies more. So today, I’d like to examine the different layers of Disney Princess movies to see where both sides of the argument may come from.
Makeup and feminism
If you’re familiar with feminist discourse, you’ll probably know that makeup can be a bit of a
polarizing issue. Is it yet another oppressive mechanism or is it a woman’s free choice that should not be criticized?
Obviously I cannot answer that on my own, and for starters I think that every woman should feel free to think about what makeup means for them and how they feel about it. That being said, let’s dive into the discussion a bit further.
